Landscapes change over time as trees, shrubs and perennials mature. Our first consultation will be an informal meeting in which we will discuss your ideas and requirements for your outdoor living space. To achieve these goals, a simple re-arrangement of plants or re-drawing of the bedlines may be all that’s needed. If, however, you’re interested in a more complex landscape renovation, a formal design will be an important part of the process. We will carefully consider all of your needs and design a complete program for the installation. Whether you wish to complete the project in phases or all at once, a thoughtfully designed plan will help you reach these goals on time and within budget. Components may include:

What can I expect during the creation and installation of my landscape design?

Your new landscape design begins with an initial consultation and site tour. We will ask questions to determine your interests, scope of design, budget and what will work best in your situation. We will make a few general suggestions for the project and determine a fee for design services.
If you wish to go forward with the process, it is requested that you complete a Client Questionnaire designed to help us learn more about you and your expectations for the proposed landscape. The questionnaire is designed to give you many elements to consider and ask you how you would like to use the public and private spaces surrounding your home. Following the completion of the questionnaire, we will discuss it to zero in on the elements to be included.
The next step will be the creation of a Base Map to scale, encompassing the location of your house on the property and all existing landscape elements that will remain after the process is completed.
Then we will present a Preliminary Design that will include a general layout of proposed beds, plant material and hardscape elements. At this time you will be encouraged to discuss all elements of the design and make any changes or additions. Landscape designers are skilled in translating their clients’ ideas into design elements that are unique to the home while integrating existing site situations properly.
The Master Plan is the final stage in the design process and will be presented to you at your home. The Master Plan includes detailed plant material, hardscape lists and a proposed installation schedule.
During the installation, a BLD Gardens representative will act as liaison to our skilled installers. We will insure completion of the plan in a timely manner using industry-accepted standards in accordance with town and/or state ordinances.
You will benefit by having the professionals at PlantPro Group manage the installation of your new landscape plan. Should you have any questions or issues at any time during the process, we will be available to resolve them quickly and satisfactorily.
Upon completion of the installation, we will present you with a CD that chronicles the project from first ground breaking to completion. You will also receive a binder that includes portraits of all the plant material in your new garden. This information will include:
  • A color photo of each plant including common and Latin names
  • Growth habits, flowering time and fall color (if applicable)
  • Instructions for continuing care of those plants including how to prune, fertilize and water and then, how to prepare them for winter

But most of all, we want you to love your new landscape! We will be here to answer any questions you might have, even after the installation is complete.
